Facilities Layout
The Learning Center is a flexible facility where a variety of classes are offered to the public. The majority of these classes are created in response to a group of individuals requesting a particular kind of instruction. Not all of our programs originate solely within the Learning Center; we are connected by cable, satellite and Internet to the world-- the community itself is our largest classroom.
All learning spaces at WSU Jefferson County are in full compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Five wheelchair accessible lavatories are on the premises. Two (non-cooking) kitchen areas are also available for preparing coffee, tea and other refreshments. These rooms have VCR's, televisions, white boards, movabale tables and seating.
Also, since we are a part of Washington State University, we offer the option to enroll as an extended degree (distance learning) student to earn a 4-year college degree-- right here in Jefferson County!
The main public areas pictured below are:
- The Spruce is an open room which holds up to 80 people.
- The Madrona, a smaller group meeting room, can seat 22 people.
- The Otter room is a computer lab with 9 new Intel Dual-core iMac workstations including a teaching station connected to a digital projector.
- The Cougar room, equipped with a plasma screen to vie the ITV or webcast feeds, Polycom, DVD/VCR, a Mac-mini, iMac work station, 3 comfortable sofas and home to the LC director, Robert Force.
